Our Program:

REGULAR SEASON TRIATHLON TRAINING (March-August):
TRIkid offers two coached workouts each week:

Sundays:
Time: 5:30pm-6:30pm
Location: West Creek Office Park
Description: We will have a 1/2 hour bike which will sometimes be followed by a 1/2 hour run.  All teammates should wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and tennis shoes.  Additionally, it is MANDATORY that all kids have a helmet in order to participate.  

Some biking will be done within a parking lot.  More advanced riders may be led out onto roads which will not be closed to traffic, however, West Creek Office Park has relatively light vehiclular traffic.  We will discuss road and bike safety and stay in a group during all rides. 

Wednesdays:

Time: 5:30pm-6:30pm
Location: Midlothian Athletic Club (formerly Robious Sports & Fitness)/Huguenot Park (located behind Midlothian Athletic Club)
Description:  We will have a 1/2 hour swim followed by a 1/2 hour run.  All teammates should show up in their swimsuit on the pool deck.  Immediately following the swim, your child will need a t-shirt and/or shorts that they can put on over their suit and a pair of running shoes.  Kids will also need to bring goggles, a towel and any other swim items they might need (nose plug, ear plugs). 

Other Workouts:  All teammates will be given a detailed weekly workout plan to follow.  Some days they will need to bike and/or run for up to 20 minutes (more advanced athletes may be asked to train for up to 30 minutes).  Other days (cross-training days) they will simply need to stay active and do activities they enjoy (jumping on a trampoline, playing tag, participating in another sport, etc.)  

Kids are NOT expected to be able to run or swim for 30 minutes when we begin.  Some of our time on land or in the water will be spent warming up, stretching, learning drills, etc.

FALL/WINTER OFF-SEASON TRAINING: (October-February)
TRIkid offers one coached workout each week:

Time: 3:30pm-5:00pm
Location: Midlothian Athletic Club (formerly Robious Sports & Fitness)/Huguenot Park (located behind Midlothian Athletic Club)
Description:  TRIkid Fall/Winter Training  is a relaxed training program designed to help everyone keep the skills they have learned  over the summer or build a foundation of fitness in both swimming & running.  This "base training" will help athletes who go on to participate in TRIkid's triathlon specific (swim/bike/run) training in the Spring/Summer.

The Run:  Training will be a progressive in nature and will last a 1/2 hour.  The program will begin with basic technique & drills and we will move on to strength, power, speed and endurance as the Fall/Winter season progresses.  

The Swim: Training is for proficient swimmers (all swimmers must be able to swim unassisted across the length of the pool).  Swim training will focus on the triathlon specific freestyle stroke and include stroke instruction, drills, technique, speed and endurance training.We will have a 1/2 hour run followed by a 1/2 hour swim.  All teammates should show up in their swimsuit with a t-shirt and/or shorts over it and a pair of running shoes.  Kids will also need to bring a bag that contains their goggles, a towel and any other swim items they might need (nose plug, ear plugs).

Payment Options:

The TRIkid Regular Season program is only $50 per month and requires an initial 2 month commitment.  After two months, you can elect to continue with the program on a month-to-month basis.  The season begins in March and will continue through the end of August.  Payment is due on the 1st of each month for the upcoming month's training.  Participants can also register to attend only 1 day a week for either Cycling/Running on Wednesdays or Swimming/Running on Sundays.  Cost for 1 day a week is $35 per month with a 2 month initial commitment; after that, it is a $35 monthly charge.

Savings Plan: Join for the entire season and SAVE!  If you register your child for the 2-day a week program, we offer two savings options:

Spring Season: 3 month contract from March-May. You will pay only $140 (a $10 savings!). 
Summer Season: 3 month contract from June-August.  You will pay only $140 (a $10 savings!)
Spring & Summer Season: 6 month contract from March- August. You will pay only $275 (a $25 savings!)
To take advantage of this savings, you must either Pay-In-Full or enter into a Monthly Payment Contract for monthly payments. Savings Plan only available to members in the 2-day a week program.


The TRIkid Fall/Winter program runs from October to the end of February and is  $45 per month with no initial commitment.  The program will keep your kids in shape through the winter with training in running and swimming.  We will also target various running races in the Richmond area. 
ABOUT TRIkid TRAINING


TRIkid Training is a youth triathlon training group formed by TRIgirl Training building on their successful track record of offering first-class triathlon coaching in a supportive environment. TRIkids will offer the same level of professional training to boys and girls, ages 7-14.

Led by USA Triathlon Certified coach, USA Cycling Coach, Ironman triathlete and mother of four, Cyndi Dambacher, participants will receive coaching in swimming, biking and running. We will target various youth distance triathlons throughout the Summer season and youth running races in the Fall/Winter season.
Our Team: 

Grandison Burnside, M.S.
Grandison Burside is the founder of TRIkid Training as well as Richmond's highly successful women's triathlon program, TRIgirl Training.  Grandison is a USA Triathlon Certified Coach, Ironman triathlete and mother to three young children.  Grandison enjoys teaching and coaching others to set goals, enhance their lives and stay fit through athletics.  Through TRIgirl Training, Grandison has taught countless athletes life-time fitness activities & regular self-care which she believes can help lead to life-changing experiences and a positive self-image.




Cyndi Dambacher
TRIkid is coached by Cyndi Dambacher, a USA Triathlon Certified Coach and USA Cycling Coach.  Cyndi is an active member, Team Leader and Coach for TRIgirl Training.  She has completed a variety of races from 5ks to Ironman distance events.  She has spent many years coaching children in different sports including training the youngest of her four children for the PowerKids Triathlon when she was just 6 years old!  Cyndi’s mission is to introduce children to the world of triathlon in a fun, supportive and encouraging environment and to help children feel proud of their personal accomplishments!!
